June 5, 2015

How quickly June has arrived! We've spent the last week reflecting back on our experience at City Hall School and looked at the many connections we've made in learning.

Literacy & Science

This week students completed some story writing they started at City Hall School based upon an artifact they journaled about.

We've also begun on a bigger piece of expository writing based on our Science topic of Small, Flying and Creepy Crawly Things. Student's have chosen a creature to research using a variety of sources. This week has been about working effectively with others, accessing and reading information to decide what's important to document, and creating a web of information to document the important ideas.

Math

This week in Math we've been covering a new topic on Measurement. We've been learning about using non-standard measurement tools and why it's important to be consistent with using the same non-standard measurement (i.e. measuring a book with the same sized paper clips, not using large and small ones, etc).

Social Studies

We've reflected on our experience at City Hall School and created some artwork that expressed the highlight of our week at City Hall School!

Jump Rope for Heart

We had a great time skipping with our buddies for our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser!
