Literacy

This week in literacy we've been exploring literacy centers, completed some writing tasks around things we enjoy doing in autumn and winter seasons (which ties to our science study of seasonal changes).

We've also begun our home reading program this week. Thank you to all the parents who have returned the home reading forms.

Home reading will come home at the start of each week and should be returned at the end of the school week.

Math

This week in math we've been examining patterns. We've been looking at what the core of patterns is, how patterns repeat and the attributes of repeating patterns.

Science

In Science we've begun to look at seasonal changes. We've started talking about the changes we can observe as we approach fall. Students have come up with some great observations such as length of day, temperature, animal and plant changes.

Health & Pillars of Care

Our Pillars of Care is something schools use to talk to our learners about ways we respect ourselves and others. The three pillars of care are:

  • Care for Ourselves
  • Care for Each Other
  • Care for Our Place
These align closely with our Health Curriculum where expectations are:

Wellness Choices:
Students will make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety for self and others.

Relationship Choices:
Students will develop effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate responsibility, respect and caring in order to establish and maintain healthy interactions.

Life-Learning Choices:
Students will use resources effectively to manage and explore life roles and career opportunities and challenges.
