This week in literacy we've started to look at traditional tales. Together we looked at the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs. Students also took some time to look at other traditional tales with partners. We came back to examine common elements of these stories. Student's also retold the stories through story sequencing cards and wrote a bit about each, as well as having the opportunity to retell a traditional tale through drama.
This week we also met with our residency storyteller Jeff Stockton. He brought along his celtic harp and entertained us with a magnificence story of a boy, his mother and a dragon!
Math
This week we've continued to look at subtraction and word problems. Students had the opportunity to create different word problems (including addition) for others to solve. We'll be wrapping up our addition and subtraction study, but coming back for the second part of it towards the end of the year.
Science
This week in science we've been looking at what absorbency means - and what materials are absorbent. Students had the opportunity to look at a variety of materials to see if they were absorbent or not.
Social Studies
In Social Studies we've been looking at the climate of Saskatoon and comparing it to our own, as well as to other climates of places we've visited (Vancouver Island, Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona, etc).
PE
We've wrapped up our Zumba this week! We had a blast!
Mrs. Hunter has been kind enough to support us in snowshoeing for 2 PE periods this week. What fun!
