Special Note: Room 4 is looking for a collection of toilet paper and kitchen towel rolls. If you could send these with your child rather than recycling them, that'd be great. Thanks!

Literacy

This week in Literacy, we examined the book Little Blue, Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. A great story about friends coming together, finding excitement and having a little mix up.  We used this story to create story cubes. Our story cubes are a retelling of the story in order to create a cube! We then used the story as a springboard to rewrite what happens when the friends become green and how they solve their problems in the end.
"They played hide and go seek"

"Little green had fun chasing little orange through the bush and through the hole. Then they got tired of chasing so they went to have a...."

Math

This week in math we continued to look at odd and even numbers. Students created an "odd monster" to show what they know! I'll be sure to add a picture of it soon! Our grade 2 students focused on skip counting by 10's with starting points between 1-9 (3, 13, 23, 33, 43...).

Science

This week in science we examined how we can make rooms hotter or colder and reactions to changing different variables (i.e. when we open windows, we cool a room down, or when we turn on a space heater, the room warms up).

Social Studies

We've continued to look at our communities. Students have been working on an art project to reflect whats in their communities and completed some writing around this. These can be seen outside our classroom on display.

Here's a Starbucks, police station, house and apartment building.
