February 11, 2015

What a short week this has been! We've had an odd week of working hard to finish some projects up and celebrations.

Language Arts

Students worked on word and sentence level activities through literacy centers and guided reading this week.

Math

In Math this week we've been looking at how we can use addition facts to help us with subtraction (and vice versa).

Social Studies

A large chuck of our Monday morning was taking up by completing finishing touches on our community map. We named streets and avenues, buildings, traffic signs, paved parking lots, named parks and recreational centers. Wednesday morning we had two parent volunteers  come in and help hot glue tree's and street lamps onto our maps.

Science

As part of our building things unit, we created a pop-up card as part of our Valentines cards we made. Student created 4 cards each to make a total of 100 cards to celebrate our upcoming 100th Day of School. We created cards for a senior, a friend, a family member and our school buddy.

Students also created a box to house their valentines loots. Students learned how to create a net of a rectangular prism and they had a chance to explore how to fasten the pieces together to create a net for their object.

Carnival

Students have had a great time enjoying our school Carnival!

Zumba

We had our last Zumba session this week! Please join us Tuesday February 16th at 6:30pm for the Family Zumba evening.
