February 6, 2015

IWhat a busy week we've had in room 2 - I'm feeling like there are not enough hours in the day!

We've been working hard on finishing up projects big and small!

Literacy

This week we've been finishing our word processing of the narratives to go along with our maps. We've stained them and they're out on display outside out classroom - please take a minute to pop in to see them when you get chance.

Students have also started a new pirate story, creating a pirate nickname, with a problem and solution! We're hoping to have them finished by the end of next week.

Math

Grade 1's have been looking at related facts in addition (7+2 = 2+7 = 6+1 = 1+6, etc).
Grade 2's have been looking at adding doubles.

Science/Social/Art

We've been working on our map. This week we adhered our buildings to our map, created signs and other things to go with it. Have a look below!

Misc

We've had two visits from Alberta Health Services this week. On Tuesday, we had a public health inspector come and speak to us about the importance of handwashing. Students had the chance to practice proper handwashing and look at "bugs" under a UV light.

We've also had our Occupation Therapist come in and do a whole class lesson on how we can set our work on on different types of pages (i.e. pages that have margins, no margins and blank pages).

Of course.. the Desk Fairy paid us a visit last night as well.....

And our Yes Day was exciting! We'll be working towards another one!
