Literacy
This week in Literacy we've completed our monster simile work and looked for examples of similes in other books we've been reading as a whole group.
Math
This week in math we've introduced the concept of 3D shapes. We've looked at the faces, edges and vertices of cubes. We've created cubes out of toothpicks and marshmallows, as well as using cut-out nets of cubes.
Science
This week we've continued to explore our sense of touch and its impact on what happens when we lose another sense, such as your sight. We've talked about the adaptations to life that are made to use touch as a way to "see" things. Students had a chance to learn about braille and other accessible ways our world has changed to serve the blind.
Check our our braille work we created with lentil beans!
Social Studies
We worked really hard this week on creating a timeline of Calgary to display at student-led conferences.
