Literacy

This week we've been looking at what similes are and have experimented with creating similes to describe characteristics of people we know. Students worked on shared writing to describe Mr. Williams! We've also been creating similes about friends and family members.

My sister Allie is as noisy as a thunderstorm, as caring as a car, as annoying as a kitten and as happy as a cat.

We've also been working closely with Jeff Stockton on storytelling. Student's should begin to practice their stories at home for fluency!

Student's practicing using body language in storytelling.

Math

This week we've begun to look at a new unit on geometry. Students have been learning about  the properties of different shapes and their usual characteristics. We've learned about the properties of triangles, squares, rectangles, quadrilaterals and other polygons.

Science

We've begun a new unit on our senses. Students have been learning about how they use their senses in the world and how our senses send messages to our brains through our nervous system.

Social Studies

This week we've been looking at the natural resources that Saskatoon and the region has and its importance to the region.

A student brought in some stalks and grains of wheat and taught us about how grains are harvested from the plant!

PE

We've begun our unit on PillowPolo this week!
